What is lexia

There are 21 Core5 Levels, and each one is set in a different location around the world. Students enjoy the animations, facts, and "look" of each level that are themed around this world location.

You might need to be signed in to Lexia to view it. It will teach you everything you want to know and didn't know you needed to know! If you are in training and don't have a Lexia account yet, some back and watch it when you do. Activities related to each of the focus areas are represented by icons at the top of the activity selection page. Each icon has an activity progress ring around it broken into smaller pieces.

Lexia calls them "units", but sometimes we call them "pieces. When your students set their daily Conquer goal, they will decide how many units they are going to complete. They may choose any combination of pieces from different activity focus areas to reach their goal. Most likely your students will be capable of more, especially when they are new to Lexia.

However, students have access to material down through kindergarten. This creates an age-appropriate platform for older students to fill in learning gaps. The curriculum is rigorous and challenging. Lexia PowerUp uses both direct instruction and digital manipulative practice activities. In the PowerUp program, students still make goals in units, but instead of 6 areas of focus there are 3 domains.

These are:. Lexia will automatically suggest a number of minutes in each section as a goal. In Prenda World, students will get to make a daily "unit" goal and decide what kind of units they want to work on: word study, grammar, or comprehension. Comprehension units take longer to earn! Lexia would be a great tool to use in blended learning environment, specifically rotational centers. This is also a great tool for Tier II and Tier III learners, as they have so many interventions and support materials for struggling learners.

My Take Lexia is the one room schoolhouse for the 21st century--everyone gets what they need. It is also designed to meet and exceed the Common Core State Standards by providing students opportunity to move beyond their grade level. Lexia provides real-time student data so teachers can plan instruction and help students reach grade-level benchmarks. Lexia also provides scripted, teacher-led instructional materials for individuals and small groups that target specific skills for struggling students.

Because of how it is organized, the real-time data, and all the extensive materials for all tiers of instruction, Lexia Reading Core5 would be an effective platform in both accelerating reading skills and closing the reading gap for those that struggle.

For it to be effective, students need time to interact with the online platform. Teachers also need to monitor student progress myLexia. This is not something to use in place of teaching--it truly takes teaching to the next level!
